Seventeen projects in the East of England have been shortlisted for the RIBA East Awards 2024. These awards celebrate architecture that creates “characterful places of lasting value” and include buildings in Cambridgeshire, Essex, Hertfordshire, Norfolk and Suffolk. A regional jury will visit the shortlisted projects, and the winners will be announced in the spring. The regional winners will then be considered for several RIBA Special Awards, including the RIBA Sustainability Award and RIBA Building of the Year, before being considered for the National Award, which will be announced in the summer.
Gavin Henderson, Chairman of RIBA East’s jury, expressed his excitement about the diverse range of projects shortlisted this year. He highlighted the talent and ambition of architects and clients in the region, as well as their focus on sustainability and enhancing the experience and wellbeing of occupants. Henderson described the shortlisted projects as responding with ingenuity to contemporary challenges and their unique contexts, creating characterful places of lasting value.
