Monty Python actor Eric Idle, who is now 80 years old, has revealed that he is still working for financial reasons. Idle, known for his role as Sir Robin in Monty Python And The Holy Grail, sold his home last year. He stated that people often assume that he and the other members of the Monty Python troupe are wealthy, but he described their situation as a disaster. Idle suggested that management issues may be to blame for their financial predicament. Despite this, he stated that he doesn’t mind not being wealthy and prefers being funny.

Idle, along with other members such as John Cleese, Terry Gilliam, Terry Jones, and Sir Michael Palin, founded the comedy troupe in 1969. They achieved success with their sketch comedy television series and went on to create five films between 1971 and 1983. Idle also created the musical Spamalot in 2004, which won a Tony award for best musical. However, he stated that the show made money 20 years ago.

In 2013, a producer of the film Monty Python And The Holy Grail won a royalty fight with the comedy team to receive some of the play’s profits. Idle has also appeared in other films and television shows, including Shrek The Third and Monty Python Live (Mostly). The group turned down a lucrative world tour, with Idle stating that he preferred to stay home as he got older.
