King Charles Recovers from Prostate Treatment

King Charles recently underwent a medical procedure for an enlarged prostate and is currently in the hospital. Queen Camilla reported that he is doing well and is expected to stay at least one night. The treatment took place at the London Clinic, the same hospital where Princess Catherine had surgery the previous week. King Charles visited her before his own treatment.

Before leaving the hospital, Queen Camilla mentioned that her husband is doing well. King Charles made his health issue public to encourage other men to get their prostates checked, leading to an increase in searches about enlarged prostates on the NHS website.

Buckingham Palace issued a statement expressing the King’s delight at the positive impact on public health awareness. He thanked those who sent good wishes. The 75-year-old King’s plan for a corrective procedure for his non-cancerous enlarged prostate was revealed last week, and he traveled from Sandringham to London for the operation.

Enlarged prostates are common in older men, and about one in three men over 50 may experience symptoms. The medical treatment doesn’t affect the King’s role as head of state, and there won’t be a need for “counsellors of state.” Prime Minister Rishi Sunak sent best wishes for a speedy recovery.

The King is being treated at the same hospital where Princess Catherine had abdominal surgery. After leaving the hospital, she is expected to spend several months recovering at home in Windsor, delaying her official duties until after Easter.
